EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

A well-researched educational programme has been carefully planned and structured.  There is a Playgroup section and a Pre-Primary section consisting of Junior, Middle and Senior groups – the latter being the pre-school Reception Class.  Among other things, our aim is to promote confidence, self-discipline, problem solving, social skills, literacy and numeracy.  Under the direction of qualified teachers, children are exposed to developmental play, drama, music, movement education and science activities.  The school is conducted on Christian principles and in conformity with Methodist doctrine and practice.

RECEPTION CLASS / GRADE R

Our specialist teacher implements the official School Readiness programme as laid down by the Education Department.  Literacy, Pre-writing and Numeracy Skills are deliberately developed.  Concept formation is promoted and the children are encouraged to practise the higher order thinking skills involved in problem solving, logical reasoning and lateral thinking.  Independence and self-control are promoted in each child.

QUALIFIED TEACHERS

Our Pre-Primary Section teachers have specialized in pre-primary education and have insight into the developmental needs of young children.  Their aim is to encourage and guide children to realize their fullest potential in terms of intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development.  Our Christian teachers are all professionally trained at recognized teacher training institutions in South Africa.

The School is especially designed for the comfort of the children, where they can develop a sense of security and group identity.  We have a large outdoor play area where the children can enjoy a wide variety of activities, under the careful supervision, encouragement and assistance of the teachers.
